The Nebraska Cornhuskers are starting to see their in-season injuries pile up a bit.

While none of the four key Huskers who are currently not expected to play against the Oregon Ducks are going to miss significant time, there couldn’t be a worse week so far this season to face the possibility of missing two starting wide receivers.

Brandon Reilly, who missed the season opener due to suspension had himself quite the return against the Wyoming Cowboys. Reilly hauled in 2 catches for 52 yards and had another 57 yard catch called back.

It may have been the long pass play, where he dove and seemed to catch the ball where he might have suffered his hamstring injury. Alonzo Moore, who has started to look like the go-to receiver this year caught three catches for 109 yards and a touchdown.

Moore is listed as doubtful for the Oregon game with a shoulder injury. The defense has two players who might have to sit out the tilt against the Ducks as well. Mick Stoltenberg had to sit out the Wyoming contest with a knee injury and he will likely miss at least one more week after he had minor surgery on his knee.

Defensive back Lamar Jackson suffered a groin strain early in the game against the Cowboys and Mike Riley told the media after Monday’s practice that he’s going to be listed as doubtful this week as well. The good news is that none of the injuries appear to be ones that are anything close to season threatening.

Riley was quick to point out that there is at least a bit of hope that all four could see at least some action this Saturday. While fans are likely wishing the Cornhuskers were at full strength for the Ducks’ visit, Jackson and Stoltenberg’s absences didn’t cause huge problems against Wyoming.

Missing both Reilly and Moore is far from ideal on the offensive side of the ball, but the Cornhuskers are deep enough at wide receiver that replacements should be found.
