The Husker Corner Monday Mailbag (5/19/14)

As the sun rises in the East and sets in the West, another Monday means another Husker Corner Mailbag. Husker Cornerians have chimed in yet again wanting to get two more cents, so let’s add some change to their pockets.

I’ve heard the Josh Banderas situation referred to as a “prank”, but I can’t see how that is remotely close to a prank. Even if he gives the bikes to charity, it’s still theft. – Terrance Huckabee (Husker Corner Mail)

Brandon: Honestly, I’ve come to the conclusion that it wasn’t a prank. That simply doesn’t make sense. I believe what happened was not a case of stupidity, but ignorance. Banderas and Lucas Keifer (let’s remember this wasn’t a one man job) thought they could make some quick cash.

They assumed that since the bikes were going to be considered abandoned soon anyway, they could snag them and get maybe 500-600 bucks each. Not a bad deal, right?

The problem is that it’s the university’s job to confiscate the property, not theirs. This is where their ignorance of the situation came into play, but ignorance is no excuse.

Out of this group of NFL draftees, who do you think will have the best career? – Dennis Bronnin (Husker Corner Mail)

Brandon: I think Stanley Jean-Baptiste will do well and I have very high hopes for Spencer Long. Quincy Enunwa has the talent to make it in New York, if not in another franchise.

If I picked the most likely to go All-Pro the quickest, I’d go with SJB. Long may have a lengthy career, though. He’s a proven hard worker and any NFL franchise will take a chance on a guy who’s willing to put in the effort.

How far do you think the Nebraska baseball team can get in the Big Ten tournament? – Bill Fahrlander (Husker Corner Mail)

Brandon: The way they’ve been playing lately, I’d say an Indiana-Nebraska final isn’t out of the question. I’d like to see them reach 40 wins at the very least.

If Stringfellow comes to Nebraska, do you think he’s an NFL talent and, if so, where could you see him being drafted? (Husker Corner Mail)

Brandon: He’s absolutely an NFL-caliber wide receiver. If he’s properly developed, there’s no reason he can’t be a first round pick.
