Matt Damon is on the list of Nebraska football fans who are plenty famous for many of the same reasons that Dwyane Wade is. He didn’t stumble across a love of the Huskers because he has big ties to the Huskers.

He wasn’t born in Nebraska and didn’t grow up as a fan. He’s someone who came to like the Cornhuskers because a family member liked the Huskers first.

Back in 2013, his nephew was looking to not only attend UNL but also play for the Nebraska football team. Damon came to campus with his nephew much in the same way a parent might take a campus tour.

After seeing the campus and what the Cornhuskers have to offer both athletically and academically, it’s pretty clear he liked what they had to offer.

This isn’t a guy who is going to be touting the Nebraska football team to anyone he meets, but he’s made it clear that they are a college football team he roots for when he sees them on television.
