Nebraska football: Ranking the 2018 Huskers’ opponents
Considering the trajectory of the Nebraska football team the last few years, it’s hard to remember that the Huskers have actually dominated the historical series between these two teams.
Michigan State is actually 2-8 against the Cornhuskers. That includes the insane game a few years back in Mike Riley’s first season.
At the time, the Huskers’ comeback in that game seemed to be showing a turnaround in the program as a whole. It turned out those games were too few and far between.
Last year, the Spartans showed they were one of the best teams in the country. Nebraska was one of the worst.
This year, Brian Lewerke will bring his MSU team to the site of the last big upset in school history.
While Lewerke is a heck of a quarterback, it’s the Spartans defense that really packs a punch. Last year they were second in the country against the rush. They posted the seventh best defense in the country. They return nine starters from that defense.
The Nebraska football team will get to take on the Spartans at home. They have that going for them. Beyond that, it’s going to be a tough row to hoe if they want to somehow pull off a victory.
