Nebraska Football could have a playmaker like Robinson

Let me start off by saying I am not trying to put  unrealistic expectations on Nebraska football rookie Alante Brown. Comparing him to even Wan’dale Robinson at this point is a bit premature. However, those two players share similar qualities.

For one, both Robinson and Brown can move around and play different positions. We saw Robinson take on the role of both running back and wide receiver this season. Brown can do the same. The fact that he ran the fastest 40-yard dash time out of any of the guys following winter break is impressive. The fact that he played quarterback at the high school level is also impressive.

It’s for that reason that I can see Brown fill a role similar to Robinson. Brown could go out of the backfield on a certain play and throw the football. Brown could be that explosive playmaking receiver that Nebraska needs in the passing game. Full disclosure, It’s not like they don’t have enough already. He could just be another option. In that way, he is extremely similar to Robinson. We saw many times last year where Robinson dominated both the running and passing game.

Brown intrigues me for the simple fact that he brings that Swiss-Army knife mentality to Lincoln. Especially when you consider today’s brand of football, where offense is king, having a player that can fill multiple roles is extremely important. I will be interested to see where Nebraska football puts him on the field.  standing at exactly six feet, he is just tall enough to be an outside receiver. However, when you consider that the program could have Omar Manning on the outside, then there may be no room for Brown there. He will definitely crack his way into the lineup, it’s just a question of where. The beauty is that you could put him in multiple spots. If you are the coaching staff, you are not confined to a certain position for Brown.

I’ll be interested to see how Brown gets used within the offense. He is certainly has a lot of talent, and he has playmaking ability. Nebraska football is certainly going to need players that can perform at a high level and fill multiple roles. I could see him getting a ton of playing time due to his versatility. Frost has shown that if you have the talent, he will put you in. Hopefully, Brown will be able to make himself known in Lincoln over these next couple of seasons. I could see him being a tremendous playmaker for the offense
