Nebraska Football should be set at the running back position.

It seems like there is starting to be some clarity into how this Nebraska Football roster is going to shape up. For many players,  these first couple of weeks are their initial chances to make a good first impression. With many players seeming to take advantage of the initial spotlight, Dedrick Mills has been drawing rave reviews as well.

I had a feeling that Mills would definitely be someone that could make the Nebraska Football offense better right away. He is a power runner, who is hard to bring down and is not afraid to initiate contact. He should fit into this offense with ease, as the Cornhuskers are looking for a running back with that style of play. It remains to be seen what his role will be on the field as of now, but my guess is that Nebraska Football will feature him heavily.

I could definitely see him taking over the starting role. He has experience, and a proven track record of success statistically. The other options for Nebraska are talented but young. They  still need to work their way up to prove that they can succeed in big-time college football. I have no doubt that they will be able to do so, however they still need to earn their stripes so to speak. To some extent, Mills needs to earn his stripes for Nebraska  as well. It will be entirely different from his previous team at Georgia Tech. However, sometimes change is good.

Speaking about what Mills can bring to the table, quarterback Adrian Martinez spoke highly of him during the Big Ten media days. If anything, it sounds like Mills will be a hard-nosed runner for Nebraska Football. That certainly speaks to the gritty, hard-working identity of the team. It will certainly be a nice change of pace to some of the other running backs Nebraska has, most of which rely on speed. Brian Christopherson of 247Sports noted Monday that Martinez thought Mills would be a good fit.

"Asked specifically about Mills, Martinez didn’t hesitate to compliment the new guy. “Once you guys see him, he’s just a real muscular dude. He’s going to run real hard for us. He’s not going to give up one inch out there. That’s what we need.”"

So far, the returns sound good on Mills. Hopefully, he can take of the positive momentum into next season and have a great year. Nebraska will certainly be relying on him. He should certainly be up for the challenge.
