The Nebraska basketball team has been going hard after some of the best recruits in the nation. That includes Minnesota power forward Ben Carlson.

Tim Miles has been on the hunt. Over the last few months, the Nebraska basketball has been going after some of the best talent in the country.

That includes Minnesota power forward Ben Carlson. Carlson is one of the most touted players in the state of Minnesota for the 2020 class.

According to 247Sports, he’s the third best player in the entire state. He’s also the 12th best power forward and the 71st best player in the entire 2020 class.

That’s why Carlson already has 12 offers from some of the best programs in the country. That includes Creighton and the apparent front-runner, Stanford.

Carlson took a visit to see the Huskers last weekend. He also took in Creighton, according to the World-Herald.

According to the paper, he liked what he saw from both schools. It’s unclear if what he saw was enough to get either school into his plans as being one his final candidates.

It seems at least that Miles has opened the door to getting Carlson for his 2020 class. The visit last week was the second he’s taken to Lincoln.

“We saw the academic facilities and I talked to coach (Tim) Miles and (assistant Jim) Molinari,” he said. “This visit was talking more about where they see me and where I would fit into their system.”

It can only be a good thing that he’s talking about where he fits into the Nebrasketball system. It also doesn’t hurt that while the Cardinal might be considered the team to beat, it’s not like he’s from California or the West Coast.

Carlson understands what winter in the Midwest is like. Now the Nebraska basketball team has to hope that’s not a strike against them.
