The Nebraska football staff has dipped into the Golden State once more to offer a hard-hitting safety from Bellflower. Here’s what to know about  Stephan Blaylock so far.

Obviously, Nebraska defensive coordinator Bob Diaco has an outline of what he wants the secondary complimenting his 3-4 front seven look to resemble. With good friend Bob Elliot a.k.a. The Other Bob coaching safeties, it appears that they’ve identified a prospect that could fill a role under Elliot nicely.

Enter St. John Bosco High School’s 6-0, 175-pound senior-to-be. Blaylock is currently ranked a three-star prospect by the 247 Composite Index and ranks as the 44th-best overall safety in the country.

He currently boasts offers from BYU, Colorado State, Oregon, UCLA and Washington State with Nebraska now added to the list.

In 24 games played during his sophomore and junior years, he has totaled 70 tackles (51 solo) and seven tackles for loss. He also has three interceptions, a fumble caused and fumble recovery to his stat line.

Blaylock displays solid field vision and an excellent ability to snuff out plays. Watching the fumble that he caused during his junior season, he grabs onto the back before wrapping his fist around and punching the ball free.

It’s arguable how many times he could get away with latching onto a jersey and hold on at the college level, but having a nose for causing the turnover likely caught Diaco’s eye. He preaches forcing fumbles and interceptions frequently during practices.

With a mind for stopping the opposition dead in their tracks and getting the ball back for his team’s offense, it’s obvious why Blaylock got the offer. He’ll definitely be one to watch as we head along the recruiting trail.
