The Nebraska football team had hoped it had made enough inroads with a 5-star wide receiver that it could snatch him away from the Ohio State Buckeyes.

It turns out whatever efforts Mike Riley and company made weren’t quite enough to lure Tyjon Lindsey away from OSU. One of the top-rated recruits in the country, Lindsey announced through a rather innovative video, where things got even worse for the rest of the Big 10.

The video shows Lindsey in a heated game of dodgeball against Trevon Grimes, who had been considered a more likely possibility for schools like Florida or Florida State. As the two players go up against one another in the video, schools are seen being struck off their prospective lists.

For Nebraska football fans, it might even seem as if there’s about to be some good news, as the Ohio State Buckeyes are one of the schools that seem to be wiped away during the game. At the very end of the video, which was posted exclusively on Bleacher Report, the two recruits come face to face and apparently decide not to be on opposing teams anymore.

Lindsey and Grimes stride to the center of the dodgeball court and both emerge wearing Ohio State gear. The decision by Lindsey certainly hurts the Huskers’ potential recruiting class during a stretch where there has already been a swatch of bad news hitting the program.

The fact that Ohio State just grabbed two 5-star wide receivers for their recruiting class on Monday hurts the Huskers in other ways. At least the rest of the Big Ten is going to be sharing in the Cornhuskers’ suffering in that regard.

The chances that the Nebraska football team was going to be hauling in one of the nation’s top receivers were getting slimmer all the time but this announcement still hurts. I always hope that if a player of this talent level isn’t going to come to the Huskers, they don’t got to a place where they can cause us pain for the next four years.
