Jamire Calvin wasn’t able to make it down to Lincoln to check out the Husker football team, but that apparently doesn’t mean he isn’t still interested in Nebraska.

The wide receiver recruit from California announced his “final eight” schools and the Nebraska football team made the cut. It appears the Cornhuskers are still going to have their work cut out for them as his top eight are still among the best football schools in the country.

Calvin announced the Husker football team was one of his favorite through a Twitter post showing every school he’s still considering. In addition to the Cornhuskers, Calvin named Alabama, Arizona State, California, Notre Dame, Oregon State, UCLA and Washington State.

That group of schools might be a bit confusing to some on the outside looking in, but it’s clear he has a special place in his heart for the Pac 12. He also has a special place in his heart for some of the most historic football programs in college football.

While teams like Alabama and Notre Dame might look hard to beat, 247Sports has rolled out its crystal ball and claimed the Husker football team is the team to beat. It appears Mike Riley and company have an inside shot thanks to the inroads they’ve made with the “Calibraska” pipeline.

Quarterback Tristan Gebbia and wide receiver Keyshawn Johnson Jr. are the latest products from this pipeline and both commits have been working hard to bring other California kids to Nebraska. The pair’s efforts seem to be working on Jamire Calvin.

He’s already shown some real interest in the Cornhuskers, having attended the school’s spring game. He also attended the school’s camp that was held out in California earlier this year. For now, there isn’t a set date for when Calvin will announce his final choice.

It stands to reason the Husker football team will need to make a few more cuts before the final school is chosen.
