The new projections from D1Baseball is out and instead of Nebraska Baseball matching up against TCU ion a Regional they have switched it up and now the bracket of 4 would involve #1 seed Dallas Baptist, #3 seed Arkansas, and #4 Louisiana-Lafayette. Regional play begins Friday May 29th- June 1.

Huskers had to pull a late rally to keep Creighton at bay Tuesday night at TD Ameritrade park winning in the 9th.  Senior Ryan Boldt and sophomore Jake Schleppenbach were at the top of the list offensively.  Boldt was 2-5 with a double an 1 RBI. Schleppenbach was 2-4 with a double and 1 RBI. Christian Cox was only 1-4 but had a double and 2 RBIs. Defensively saw 3 errors on the board for the Huskers. That’s not a typical game for them. Going forward they won’t be able to get away with that kind of play.

Other notables seeded number one in the projection are Texas A&M, Oklahoma St., Louisville, Illinois, UCLA, UC Santa Barbara, Florida, Florida St., Miami, Florida Atlantic, LSU, Southern California, TCU, Arizona St., and Vanderbilt. In the first projection Nebraska was slated to play in the bracket with TCU. I like their chances better in this projection.

As a side note to Creighton…. if you want people to cheer for your baseball team, and you’re privileged enough to play in the ballpark where they hold the CWS, why don’t you sell tickets according to the home dugout. It was pathetic that the entire landscape of the attendees last night were a mixture of blue and red speckled sections. Not a way to keep up an in-state rivalry. Seriously… lame.

As a second note, how does Creighton continually get away with selling beer at NCAA sponsored events? UPDATE: found the answer…. Nebraska state law forbids alcohol sold within 300 feet of universities. (Nebraska is a dry campus.) Creighton became a wet campus around 2008. NCAA just says not at championship events but doesn’t go and really enforce (take a stance) anything. Great. Another great job by the NCAA.

Husker baseball is in action again tonight against the UNO Mavericks. Game time is 6:35 at Hawks Field and will stream on BTN Plus. GO BIG RED!!!
