Husker Recruits, Twitter and social media numbers

The new HUSKERS have signed. It went as expected for the most part. According to Nebraska Compliance, once the NLI has been signed, the school can post comments about the recruit.

If you want to keep track of the new HUSKERS we’ve put together a little list for you here, by position, so you can check them out on Twitter. We’ve listed the # of followers as of 1 pm on Feb. 4, National Signing Day. We will update the story with new numbers at a later date, maybe after Spring Game.

Offensive Line Husker recruit Jalin Barnett. There are a couple twitter profiles but the one we are following is @jalinb77 (1,357). Christian Gaylord is an Offensive Tackle for the Huskers and can be followed at @Big_Chris_65 (2,130). Can’t forget about Offensive Guard Michael Decker who is an Omaha native. He can be found at @_McDeck_ (702). I expect he will be getting a bigger following. Seems like a great kid.

Husker Wide Receivers include Lavan Alston from Ventura, CA. His Twitter handle is @lavan954alston (1,177). Stanley Morgan, also at WR, can be found at @Thekidstan (6,290). Running back Devine Ozigbo is at @TrulyDevine_22 (3,096). That #22 is a LOT to live up to here in Nebraska. And Matt Snyder, Tight End, rounds out our offense. He’s at @Mattsnyder42 (2,257). Since it involves scoring, I’m putting the Long Snapper, Jordan Ober in this section too. He can be found at @Jordan_ober17 (718).

Linebackers are next. They seem to be rather active on social media and get quite a following. Big Red recruit Mohamed Barry is at @BarrySwavey (3,605). Tyrin Ferguson comes from New Orleans and also has a strong following of 2,439 people at @tferg__. The other LB on the recruit list is Dedrick Young who is already enrolled and on campus. Find him at @dedrick_young (2,114). **Late HUSKER edition Adrienne Talan can be found at @AdrienneTalan (501). His numbers are going to rise too.

National Signing Day 2015

Husker Defensive Line. Coaches really worked hard to try and replace the void left by Randy Gregory [ @RandyGrebory_4, 10.5k followers]. Some of the BIG names are Nebraska native Daishon Neal, found at @DaishonNeal90 (3,062). The twins from KC are Khalil Davis at @khalildaish95 (1,992) and his brother Carlos Davis at @_KING_LOS__ (1,992) but you can also follow them at @DTwinTowers (1,620). They have their own “official” twitter page. Alex Davis (no relation) rounds out the list and can be found at @Ace22Davis (1,795).

The Husker Blackshirts in the backfield (and on campus) include Eric Lee Jr. who can be found at @elee22_21 (4,394). Another CB who is also on campus is Avery Anderson. His is pretty simple at @AveryAnderson1 (2,966). Aaron Williams is also experiencing winter conditioning. So far we haven’t found a Twitter for him. We’ll update if we do. And rounding out the backfield as a safety is Antonio Reed. He can be found at @A_Reed20 (1,294).

And we haven’t forgotten the Walk ons. (one of my FAV parts about Husker Football) O Line Fyn Anderson can be found at @Anderson_Fyn (189). Fullback Austin Hemphill from Gretna is listed as @AustinHemphill1 (855). Running Back Noah Johnson is from Sutton but I wasn’t sure which twitter handle was his. (Hit us up if you know). QB walk-on is Reid Karel from Seward and is at @RKarel6 (547). Guys listed as “athletes” are Conor Young from Cozad at @conoryoung23 (552) and Wyatt Mazour from Albion Boone Central who can be found at @WMazour20 (779).

From the Defensive side of the ball for the Walk-Ons Linebackers is the name of the game. Jared Brugmann is from Gretna and can be found at @jaredbrugmann31 (428). Brody Cleveland comes to Lincoln from Ogallala and is at @Cleveland_30 (639). And Jacob Weinmaster is from Loveland, CO. We couldn’t find him on Twitter either.

As for the guys who didn’t sign, let’s remember to stay classy and not be throwing out the negative stuff toward those kids. They are kids. They made their choices and we wish them well. After a couple of weeks we’ll update the numbers just because we are curious and kind of geeky that way. In the meantime, WELCOME to the new HUSKERS and GO BIG RED!!!
