Husker Football Recruiting: Official Visitors List for Miami

When Nebraska gets a chance to line up against a team like Miami in prime-time, the Husker football staff must put its best foot forward in terms of getting recruits to visit.

With anywhere from approximately six to eight scholarships available (depending on how creative the coaching staff wants to get), there’s a fine line to walk between picky and the full-court press.

Prospects visiting this weekend include:

Quarterback Lamar Jackson – While Jackson committed to Louisville on Aug. 30, he’s still making the trip to Nebraska, an encouraging sign. Offensive coordinator Tim Beck has a system that has catered to Tommy Armstrong, Jr.’s choices this season, giving him near full control of the offense.

Hopefully what Nebraska’s doing with the deep ball will be enticing enough to worry the Mountaineers and not solidify his commitment further. Jackson is clearly the apple of Beck’s eye in terms of signal-caller recruits right now.

Tight end Tavin Richardson – Clearly a highly-coveted prospect by Nebraska as both Charlton Warren and Rich Fisher are on the case. The Duncan, SC receiver would help shore up an area of need as Jamal Turner, Taariq Allen and Sam Burtch are all seniors. However, Turner has a chance at a medical redshirt.

Defensive end Reuben Jones – Another Nebraska-West Virginia battle, the Huskers are likely going to need to plug someone into a massive Randy Gregory-sized hole in 2015. Jones would likely have every opportunity to make that happen.

Considering his offer by fellow Big Ten member Michigan State, a school well-known for its defenses as of late, his addition would assist with depth if nothing else, especially if Avery Moss is reinstated.

More from Nebraska Football Recruiting

Inside linebacker Andre Smith – Smith committed to North Carolina back in 2013, but is back on the market and to be quite honest, few current Nebraska linebackers are setting the world on fire.

That probably wouldn’t be the case if Michael Rose-Ivey could’ve taken the field this year, but alas…

Smith’s 6’0″ 230-pound frame makes him a candidate to take over at BUCK along with serving as a No. 2 MIKE linebacker where both David Santos and Josh Banderas have struggled through 2014.

Athlete AJ Taylor – The 2016 Swiss army knife gives the Huskers a litany of options should he wear the Scarlet and Cream. A student of the familiar Rockhurst High School of Kansas City, MO, Taylor spent time at running back, wide out and returning both punts and kicks.

The staff is apparently working to get Iowa Western Community College defensive back Jayme Thompson to the game as well. The Reivers play Dodge City at 2:30 p.m. which should allow him plenty of time to get into Lincoln for kickoff.

Nebraska commitments Christian Gaylord and Avery Anderson are scheduled to be on the sideline as unofficial visitors.
