Allegedly, there’s going to be some changes to how the Husker football team comes out of the tunnel this year. According to Tom Becka, a radio talk show host podcaster, there will be plenty of energy inviting the Big Red onto the field and that’s before the Huskers see the fans.
Becka reports that not only will smoke be coming out of the tunnel, but fireworks will go off. Think an NFL-style experience as a sea of scarlet-clad warriors flood from the tunnel.
No word from Becka on whether or not Sirius will remain a part of the ritual.
“They’re gonna be coming out and there’s gonna be all this smoke…that fog, that mist…there’s going to be fireworks, there’s going to be explosives,” Becka said during his most recent podcast.
Another alleged addition is that not only will fireworks go off after every Nebraska touchdown, but after every win.
Apparently this wouldn’t be a new thing for the Nebraska football experience, either. According to Becka, back during the Devaney days, fireworks were part of the game day entertainment.
“The guy who was doing the fireworks did exactly what they told him…and did such an explosive event, that back then they evidently broke out a bunch of windows in the stadium. The whole place just rattled.”
If true and you’re sensitive to loud noises, you’ll need some industrial-strength ear plugs now more than ever.
