Nebraska Football Recruiting: Texas Tech Hot on Bussey’s Trail

It’s time for the Nebraska football recruiting staff to earn their paychecks. Those that follow recruiting knew it was a matter of time before even more big boys started coming for Nebraska running back commit Kendall Bussey. Now the Big 12 coach with the most swag’s on his trail.

The Red Raiders currently have four running backs on their roster, including seniors Rodney Hall and Kenny Williams. Bussey could easily challenge a then-junior Quinton White and then-sophomore Armond Weh-weh for immediate playing time.

Bussey current holds offers from Arkansas, Arizona State, Mississippi, Missouri and TCU among others.

An offer from a team like Texas Tech that offers Bussey playing time in a system he could flourish in may send Husker fans into a panic. However, Rich Fisher and Ron Brown are here to calm your nerves.

Yes, Fisher’s been dealt some poor hands with the eventual departure of Monte Harrison and the stunning sidestep of Damore’ea Stringfellow.

The combination of Fisher and Brown is a potent one, though. Bussey obviously felt comfortable committing back in February. The two merely have to reinforce why.

Expect more big time offers to come Bussey’s way as he’s just that good. For now, trust in the tag team that showed him why Nebraska is the place for him in the first place.

It’s hard for me to get worried about him decommiting when he joined Nebraska because we were only taking one running back in our 2015 class, everyone of those schools has a player committed as a RB. Missouri and Arizona State are the only two schools who had a better record than Nebraska and Missouri has a 4-star RB committed and Arizona State has a 3-start committed. Right now, I just don’t see any reason to actually worry about Bussey leaving unless he goes on Official visits.

I don’t know that I’d be worried. It’s bittersweet in a way. On the one hand, he’s obviously a valuable asset. On the other hand, as many say, there’s a long way until Signing Day.
