Husker Football: Husker Corner Monday Mailbag (6/23/14)

The USA-Portugal soccer game had it all. Drama, last second heartbreak a la Husker football 2009 and Teddy Roosevelt.

The good news is that some great questions were popped in the Husker Corner mailbag this week. Let’s see what Husker Nation has to ask.

Brandon: It wouldn’t surprise me to see Armstrong get the bulk of the snaps through the first two games, though I’d expect Stanton to see time. That’s just common sense. While fans may care about teams beating the spread, going 2-0 and developing experience for more than one signal-caller is vital heading into Fresno.

Brandon: Aliens did it.

Brandon: It’s possible. There’s plenty of time between now and then, after all. My first thought on a new commit would be C.J. Johnson as I can only assume the staff’s casting a wide net for receivers these days for obvious reasons. Considering he’s a Husker legacy, he’s about as likely a bet as I can give.

Brandon: Not necessarily. Fumbles aren’t necessarily determined by what a football’s made of, but how it’s being carried. Sometimes there are flukes (Ameer Abdullah knows how to carry a football). What we saw with Terrell Newby, for example, was a guy simply not properly handling the rock.

The best thing Ron Brown can do is the same thing he’s been doing for a long time now: make sure his guys practice, practice and practice some more.

Thanks for the questions, folks. As always, if you want to be a part of next week’s Mailbag, send us a question/comment. Have a good rest of the week!
