Taylor Martinez: Done With Philadelphia Eagles Due To Injury

Unfortunately, Taylor Martinez‘s time with the Philadelphia Eagles has ended before it could truly begin. According to, Nebraska’s former No. 3 failed the Eagles’ physical, thus voiding his three-year free agent deal with the NFL franchise.

The site goes on to report that Casey Martinez, Taylor Martinez’s father, confirmed a trip to Philadelphia where records from Nebraska were reviewed. The Eagles then performed x-rays of their own on the foot that caused him so much trouble last season.

“We can’t believe it. The Eagles treated him great the brief time he was there. It’s crushing. It was a perfect fit for him.” – Casey Martinez to HuskersOnline via text

A likely wide receiver or cornerback under Chip Kelly, Martinez passed for 7,258 yards and 56 touchdowns during his time with the Cornhuskers and rushed 585 times for 2,975 yards.

Allegedly, Martinez will “seriously consider” foot surgery before attempting a recovery and return to football.
