The pride of the 2013 Huskers football receiving corps got his due on Saturday. In a draft stuffed with receivers, 2014 Gator Bowl MVP Quincy Enunwa was drafted by the New York Jets with the No. 209 pick overall.
With his selection, Nebraska now claims 350 overall NFL draft picks, a mark only matched by USC, Notre Dame, Ohio State and Oklahoma. A frequent visitor of the end zone, he hauled in 51 catches for 753 yards and 12 touchdowns last season.
Enunwa was one of four picks by the Jets in the sixth round including Northwest Missouri State CB Brandon Dixon, Clemson QB Tajh Boyd and Louisiana Tech DE IK Enemkpali.
His selection marks only the second time a wide receiver has been picked during Bo Pelini’s tenure (Niles Paul, 2011).
Clearly one of the Jets’ missions during this year’s NFL Draft was to stockpile receivers as Enunwa was the third pass-catcher in their shopping cart.
