Huskers Fall In Extra Innings To Northwestern; DH Scheduled

You’d think with a third-straight nine-inning game from pitcher Christian DeLeon the Huskers baseball team (25-15, 7-3 Big Ten) could torch the Northwestern Wildcats’ (9-24, 3-9 Big Ten). You’d be wrong.

Despite Nebraska baseball’s bats being on fire over the past two games bringing in a whopping 31 runs, the Big Red fell in a 2-1 decision after 12 innings of play at Haymarket Park. Interestingly enough, last season’s opener between the two teams featured a 16-inning feature. Unfortunately for Big Red fans, that game was a win.

To be blunt, this loss is bad, but the Huskers can recover and do so quickly. Due to impending poor weather, Saturday and Sundays games have been smashed into a doubleheader. The first game is scheduled to begin at 12:05 p.m. tomorrow with the finale scheduled after a 45 minute intermission.
