Thanks to yet another late rally, Darin Erstad’s Nebraska baseball club found itself celebrating its fifth-straight win, this time over the Creighton Bluejays.The Cardiac Corn appear to be taking a page out of Tim Miles’ book as following an up and down start to the season, they’ve begun to hit their stride.
Jake Placzek’s two-out, two-RBI single in the eighth helped Nebraska knock off of the ‘Jays 4-2 after a scant two hits through seven innings.
Nebraska’s far from a perfect team going six games without an extra base hit, but pitching has been superb. The Huskers will take on Kansas State before facing their next Big Ten foe in the frigid tundra of…somewhat north of Lincoln. Goldy and his Gophers are waiting for the Big Red to arrive.
The Indiana Hoosiers, first in the Big Ten standings, currently has a six-game winning streak including sweeps against the Iowa Hawkeyes and Ohio State Buckeyes, both series away from Bloomington, IN.
They won’t be facing major competition any time soon, either. If Nebraska can get a morale boost in knocking off the Wildcats before thrice striking down the Minnesota Golden Gophers (or at least winning the series), the Big Red should remain in the hunt for the conference crown.
