Ever want to dunk the head coach of a major football program? Does Bo Pelini have a deal for you! As if opening spring practice and participating in a heartwarming reunion wasn’t enough, Nebraska football’s head coach is looking to top himself in terms of presenting a…well, different image.
Unconfirmed sources claim that Pelini will be hosting the first Big Red Easter Bash on Saturday, April 19 on the Memorial Stadium FieldTurf, but he won’t be sitting under a tent.
Allegedly, a nominal fee gets you a baseball that may or may not cause the seventh-year Huskers head man to take an unorthodox bath. All proceeds will go to the Bo Pelini Foundation, but the fun doesn’t stop there.
Apparently, an Easter egg hunt will be featured using nearly all football players randomly stationed around the field as markers.
Associate head coach Barney Cotton will allegedly be giving piggyback rides while running backs coach Ron Brown will be painting faces near the Tunnel Walk entry doors. The sources go on to claim that wide receivers coach Rich Fisher will be tossing out chocolate bunnies as he teaches proper catching technique.
Defensive coordinator John Papuchis and defensive line coach Rick Kaczenski are also scheduled to help instill correct footwork and blocking skills to help keep parents away from the kids’ sugary stashes.
Secondary coach Charlton Warren will apparently be showing kids and parents how to deflect and intercept carrot-shaped plastic bags filled with jelly beans with the assistance of quarterbacks Ryker Fyfe and Tyson Broekemeier.
To top it all off, a 40-yard dash contest is reportedly to be held against the Easter Bunny with the winner snagging two club seat tickets for the entire 2014 season. Both kids and adults are able to challenge the cottontail wonder for the fastest time. He reportedly may have some extra T-Magic in his step this year.
If it isn’t dead obvious by this point, Happy April Fool’s Day! Regardless, wouldn’t this be awesome?
