The Nebraska Cornhuskers open Big Ten play with the Illinois Fighting Illini coming to town. Nebraska is coming off of a bye week and should be more than prepared for the Illini. The Huskers come into the contest sitting at 3-1 on the season.
Illinois is also 3-1 on the year and coming off of a big win over Miami (OH) last weekend. The Illini are looking to upset the Huskers and possibly vault themselves into the Top 25. Quarterback Nathan Scheelhaas will look to continue his impressive season. The Illini qb leads the Big Ten in several offensive categories. Illinois will look to spread the Nebraska’s secondary thin with multiple receiving threats.
The Huskers will look to improve on the defensive side of the football after having two weeks to work on technique. There might be a few old faces in familiar places at the linebacker spot. Nate Gerry and Josh Banderas are likely to start the game on the sidelines. In addition to new starters on defense, quarterback Tommy Armstrong Jr. will get his second career start for the Huskers.
