The Nebraska Cornhuskers might have the weekend off, but that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t cook something up and enjoy some football. It was tough coming up with what game to feature since Memorial Stadium will be silent. I decided a Top 25 battle between to Big Ten foes would work just fine. Ohio State hosts Wisconsin in a game that could play a major role in deciding The Leaders Division.
On the menu tomorrow night, beer brats.
Here is what you will need.
8 cheddar brats
1 large yellow onion
1 can or bottle beer of your choice (I recommend a full bodied brew)
In a large pan brown both sides of the brats. Slice onion. Add beer and onion to pan with brats. Cover and simmer for 10 minutes over low to medium heat. Remove lid and boil over medium high heat until beer has been completely absorbed by onion and brats. Put brats in buns and cover with onion. Add mustard to the brats and serve with chips of your choice.
Beer should always accompany beer brats. I would go with Leinenkugel’s Oktoberfest. It is one of their best brews and it is in season.
Now to wrap it up with music to to go with the pregame festivities, albeit at your own home. Enjoy your college football weekend everyone.
