The Nebraska Cornhuskers lead the Wyoming Cowboys 10-7 after the first quarter at Memorial Stadium.
The Huskers young defense started the game slowly, giving up quick first downs that took Wyoming to the Nebraska 48 yard line before Corey Cooper came up with a huge 3rd and 8 stop. The Huskers first series provided the games first penalty, a false start, that put Nebraska in a third and long situation. Nebraska failed to convert and went three and out.
Wyoming wasted no time taking a 7 point lead with 8:48 remaining in the first quarter when quarterback Brett Smith connected with Jalen Claiborne for a score.
After a great return from Kenny Bell the Huskers went to work. They quickly drove down field before stalling and Nebraska settled for a 24 yard field goal from kicker Pat Smith.
Stanley Jean Baptiste intercepted a would be touchdown and returned it to mid field. Then Taylor Martinez took command of the offense. After a Martinez run, Kenny Bell catch, and personal foul on the Cowboys the Huskers found themselves on the Cowboy 20 yard line. Taylor Martinez then hit Jamal Turner on for a 20 yard touchdown giving the Nebraska Cornhuskers a 10-7 lead heading into the half.
