04- Oregon Ducks:

Coach: Mark Helfrich

2012 Record: Overall 12-1   PAC 12 (8-1)

Chip Kelley has moved on to The NFL as the new head coach of The Philadelphia Eagles. In his place is former Ducks OC Mark Helfrich. Helfrich has a very full cupboard of talent to build upon, and an offensive system that leaves PAC 12 defenses confused and out of breath.

Often undervalued quarterback Marcus Mariota returns for his second season behind center for Oregon. Mariota is Heisman Trophy worthy, and will likely be in New York City when the award is handed out in December. Joining him will be standout running back De’Anthony Thomas has the potential to lead The PAC 12 in rushing this year, and he and Mariota have a stable of big horses opening holes for them.

Of the 16 returning starters for Oregon, 7 of them are from their defensive squad. The unit finished in the top half of all defensive categories in The PAC 12 in 2012, and will likely be even better this season. Look for cornerback Ifo Ekpre-Olomu to be a force in the Ducks defensive backfield.

2013 Outlook: This years schedule could not get any more favorable for Oregon. They will be tested on road trips to Washington, Stanford, and Arizona State, but Stanford seems like the only real threat to The Ducks. If they can get by The Cardinal, they might have an undefeated season and be playing for The BCS Championship.
