05- Stanford Cardinal:

Coach: David Shaw

Record: Overall 12-2   PAC 12 (9-1)

Stanford is a throwback to The Nebraska Cornhuskers of the mid to late 1990′s. You know exactly what they are going to do, and it’s up to you to try to stop them. Their offensive line is the best in the nation. Four of the five starters from last year are back, and Andrus Peat, who chose Stanford over Nebraska, is probably going to step in without The Cardinal missing a beat.

Stanford had the best defense in The PAC 12 last season, and they have eight starters returning. They struggled against the pass, but another year of experience could improve their pass defense.

2013 Outlook: Stanford will contend for a PAC 12 Championship in 2013. Oregon is the only real threat to The Cardinal. While UCLA and USC are not cupcakes, I don’t see either of them being able to shut down the power run game that Stanford possesses or be able to put up enough points to out score them. Stanford will either be playing in a BCS Bowl this year, possibly with just one loss.

lol do you even watch Alabama play? This is coming from a USC Trojan fan who now lives in the south.

    • John Ackeren

I watch Alabama play every week. Last year they had the best O Line by a mile. Three of those guys are playing in the NFL now. This season I look at Stanford’s offensive line and I think they are head and shoulders above any other unit in the country. Thanks for the comment Sundiata.

I agre with Ackeren. Last year, Bama was tops (watch LSU try to get anywhere near the QB). This year things are likely to be different.

Stanford has a great defensive front seven, and a great O line. Solid to outstanding QB, and potentially great D backfield. It is on the O side that kids have to step up, and the talent waiting to be RB, TE, and WR is terrific. Three BCS bowls in a row, and a fourth is as close to a sure bet as there is in football. The NCG is theirs to reach out and grab. It probably comes down to Nov. 7, when the Quackers come to town.
