LSU enters the 2013 season with some anxiety. The Tigers have not won a BCS Championship since 2007, and Alabama is not the only team they have to contend with in the SEC West. Texas A&M has emerged as a powerhouse, which puts LSU in a win now situation.

The Tiger defense is in full rebuilding mode with only three returning starters from the 2012 squad. LSU will need young players like defensive lineman Anthony Johnson will have to play big for success in Baton Rouge.

The Offense is loaded with returning starters. Quarterback Zach Mettenberger is back for his second season leading the huddle, and wide receivers Odell Beckham Jr. and Kadron Boone should be two of his favorite targets. Several offensive lineman also return to opens holes for whomever wins the starting job at running back.

2013 Outlook: LSU has been a college football monster for a decade now. While they are still a top ten team, they seem to be losing ground to Alabama and Texas A&M is breathing down their necks. LSU’s inexperienced defense will hurt them in 2013. It’s hard to imagine them winning the West division of the SEC, but will still be a BCS Bowl contender.
