Nebraska Cornhuskers junior running back Ameer Abdullah has added to the number of watch lists he has been named to. Last week Abdullah was named to the Maxwell Award Watch List, and today was named to The Doak Walker Award Watch List. The Award is given to the nations best collegiate running back.

Ameer Abdullah looks to be the first Nebraska to bring home the trophy. Abdullah had a great 2012 season for Nebraska. The Homewood Alabama led the Huskers with 1,137 yards rushing, while splitting time with Rex Burkhead.

With Abdullah being the featured back in Nebraska’s high powered offense in 2013, he will likely see an increase in production. Ameer Abdullah is considered one of the premier runing back in The Big Ten, and is joined by several conference running backs on the list. Venric Mark of Northwestern, Zach Zwinak of Penn State, James White of Wisconsin, Mark Weisman of Iowa, Melvin Gordon of Wisconsin, and Carlos Hyde of Ohio State are also on The Doak Walker Award Watch List.

Abdullah and The Nebraska Cornhuskers kick off their 2013 season on August 31st when The Wyoming Cowboys visit Memorial Stadium in Lincoln.
