Preseason Top 25: Number 17 Boise State Broncos

Preseason Top 25 Countdown:

25- Northwestern Wildcats

24- TCU Horned Frogs

23- Oregon State Beavers

22- UCLA Bruins

21- Nebraska Cornhuskers

20- Wisconsin Badgers

19- Texas Longhorns

18- Kansas State Wildcats

17- Boise State Broncos:

Coach: Chris Petersen

2012 Record: Overall 11-2   Mountain West  7-1

With only nine returning starters from the 2012 team, some might say that Boise State might slip in 2013. Senior quarterback Joe Southwick happens to be one of those returning starters, and if 2012 was any indication, he will likely keep the high powered Broncos offense moving. He was a few hundred yards shy of 3,000 last year, and will likely reach that mark for Boise State in the 2013 campaign. Junior wide receiver Matt Miller will be a frequent target that will likely keep the Broncos at the top of scoring offense rankings.

Defensively Boise State will be led by an experienced front four that returns three starters. Senior defensive tackle Ricky Tjong-A-Tjoe, junior defensive end Demarcus Lawrence, and sophomore Sam Ukwuachu will dominate opposing Mountain West Conference foes which will help an unproven linebacking core find their footing early on in the season.

2013 Forcast: Boise State will probably duplicate their results from 2012. Washington will be a good early test for The Broncos, playing them for the second consecutive game (the two met in The MAACO Bowl in Las Vegas). San Diego State could also cause problems for the second straight season. 11-2 sounds right for Boise State this year.
