As we near the top 20 teams in our countdown we examine a team that has had both ups and downs in the past few seasons.
Preseason Top 25 Countdown:
25- Northwestern Wildcats
24- TCU Horned Frogs
23- Oregon State Beavers
22- UCLA Bruins
21- Nebraska Cornhuskers:
2012 Record: 10-4 Overall (7-2) in The Big Ten Legends Division Champions
Year six under Bo Pelini will be pivotal for The Nebraska Cornhuskers. The offense has the highest expectations in recent memory with senior Taylor Martinez behind center. The offense seems stacked with weapons from Kenny Bell, Ameer Abdullah, Quincy Enunwa, Jordan Westerkamp, and Jamal Turner all poised for big seasons.
Defensively there are concerns. A very inexperienced core of defensive lineman and linebackers will likely see plenty of competition in fall camp, with clear cut starters unknown. Recent transfers and suspensions have clouded the situation even more than previously expected. Ciante Evans will likely be a key leader for the Blackshirts.
2013 Outlook: The schedule is favorable to Nebraska this year, and they should take full advantage of it. UCLA travels to Lincoln in September, and The Cornhuskers should avenge last seasons loss in Westwood. A November showdown with Michigan should determine the fate of the 2013 Nebraska Cornhuskers with a Legends Division Title and Big Ten Championship Game on the line. Expect Nebraska to reach the 11 win mark this season.
