We continue our Preseason Top 25 countdown as we get closer to College Football kicking off. Yesterday we previewed we previewed The Northwestern Wildcats. Today we focus on a team entering their second season as a member of The Big XII.
Preseason Top 25 Countdown:
25- Northwestern Wildcats
24- TCU Horned Frogs:
Coach: Gary Patterson
2012 Record: Overall 7-6 Big XII (4-5) 7th place
TCU is hoping to rebound in their second year as members of The Big XII. Having Casey Pachall return to the roster will definitely help their cause. The Horned Frog defense should be one of the best in football this season with most of last years starters returning. Defense is almost a foreign language in The Big XII, so having the best D in the conference will work in TCU’s favor.
The offense will benefit from the return of starting quarterback Casey Pachall. While Trevone Boykin played admirably last season, Pachall should give the Horned Frogs a shot of energy. Sophomore running back B.J. Catalone should thrive as the featured back after sharing carries with Matthew Tucker. A solid receiving core completes what should be a potent TCU offensive attack.
2013 Outlook: While a Big XII title does not seem likely, a jump from last years disappointing season should be expected. The best team they will play is LSU in their opener, so anyone they face afterwards will not come close to the physicality and athletic ability as the Tigers. Look for TCU to grab at least 9 wins in 2013 with a fourth place finish in The Big XII.
