A lot of our readers have been messaging me on Facebook, Twitter and via e-mail asking a lot of questions about this years Nebraska team, and the upcoming season. I have decided to save those messages for a once a week article with me, Jimmie Allen, answering your questions. So please keep them coming.

How has Taylor looked in practice?

All the rumors of redshirt junior Taylor Martinez throwing motion improving are not true. Taylor still has that awkward throwing motion, but what he has improved on is his footwork. The California native returned to his home state in the off season and worked with his high school football coach on his feet. It is clearly better, and Taylor’s delivery is much more smooth because of it.

Does Nebraska win the National title this year? GBR!

I don’t think a crystal ball is in store for Bo Pelini’s team in 2012. As John Ackeren and I discussed on last weeks Husker Corner Radio Show. I think Nebraska’s best chance of winning a National Championship is in 2015. Tommy Armstrong will be in his fourth year in the program. You’ll have a loaded backfield with Imani Cross as a senior as well. The defense will be stacked with Avery Moss, Aaron Curry, Jared Afalave, Michael Rose and  this talented recruiting class that Nebraska signed this year. 2015 is the year to look for as far as a National Championship is concerned.

Who do you think is going to win the BIG 10 this year?

At the start of this off season, I thought Michigan was going to be the team to beat. The more I look at it, Michigan State may be that team. I think Nebraska beats Sparty in East Lansing. I don’t think that is the issue Nebraska will run in to. If Nebraska can beat either Michigan or Ohio State, I don’t think they have to beat both, I think they win the Legends Division. If they lose both of those games, I think Michigan State wins the Legends, and plays Wisconsin for the Big 10 Championship. If Nebraska makes it to Indy, I could see them beating Wisconsin for a second time. If Michigan State makes the title game, I see Wisconsin making it to the Rose Bowl for the third straight year.

Is Rex Burkhead the best running back in the Big 10? Go Big Red!

Make no mistake, Rex Burkhead is the smartest football player in the Big 10. He is not the best running back. Montee Ball is the most complete back in the Big 10, and will more than likely be in New York at the end of this season again. Fitzgerald Toussaint from Michigan is a star in the making. I see him having a huge year, and taking some of the load off of Denard Robinson. The best running back in the country that no one is talking about is Leveon Bell from Michigan State. With the loss of Kirk Cousins, the Spartans will lean on Bell to be the work horse of the Spartans offense this season. I think Rex is the third best back in the Conference behind Bell, and Ball. Toussaint is more of an explosive player than Burkhead, but Rex is more well rounded.

I heard you talking about Imani Cross on your radio show. Do you really think he is good enough to take carries from Rex?

Bo Pelini came out last week and said true freshman running back Imani Cross will see time this year. So yes he will see some carries that could have been Rex Burkhead’s. I think towards the end of the season is when you will see the true value of a 6-foot-2, 220 lb running back. When Rex is warn down from the season, Cross will be the Ace in the hole Nebraska has not had in quite some time. It will be almost impossible to stop this kid from getting first downs on 3rd and 2s. Cross is a football player, and is a tough kid. The future is bright for him, and this Nebraska program.
