On November 2 Nebraska finishes the roughest stretch of four games maybe of any team in the country. They go to East Lansing, to take on defending Legends Division champions, Michigan State. The Huskers almost ruined the Spartans chances of a Big Ten title game birth with a 24-3 rout of Sparty in Lincoln last season.
The Spartans will be with out Kirk Cousins under center for the first time in four years. He will be replaced by 6-foot-4 Andrew Maxwell. Maxwell, a senior from Midland, Michigan completed 16 of 28 passes in mop up duty last season. He through 1 touchdown in the 45-7 blow out of Central Michigan last season.
The biggest story on the defensive side if the ball is the loss of All-American defensive tackle Jerel Worthy. Worthy was drafted by the Green Bay Packers in the second round. He will leave a big hole to fill. Senior Anthony Rashad White will be the guy Michigan State looks to fill Worthy’s spot. Rashad White, and Tyler Hoover will be the interrior linemen for the Spartans in 2012.
William Golston is a junior defensive end, and will be the most explosive defensive linemen on the Spartans defensive line, and maybe in the country. At 6-foot-7, 275 lb. Golston will be a terror for all Big Ten quarterbacks.
I believe last seasons Michigan State team was much better than this one, but I think this could be a trap game for the Huskers. It will be difficult to get up for four games in a row. I think Nebraska could come out flat against Sparty in what may be a prime-time game, I just think Golston and crew will cause Taylor Martinez, and the Nebraska offense fitts all day. I just see Nebraska struggling in a tough road game.
