Nebraska’s Most Wanted

With the addition of Eastern Arizona Junior College defensive back Mohammed Seisay on December 20th, the Huskers fill one more spot on their top 10 most wanted targets for the 2012 class. With the ever changing look of recruiting in college football, here is who we see as the short list for current recruits with Nebraska offers.

1. . Devin Fuller, Quarterback/Athlete, Old Tappan High School, Old Tappan, New Jersey: Fuller is not the most highly touted recruit with Nebraska left on his list, but he may be the most important. He is very Jamal Turner like. He is a quarterback naturally, but could come in and play wide receiver and see playing time early. He is a two sport athlete that could be taken in the major league baseball draft as well. So not only would Fuller be a huge get for Bo Pelini, but for head baseball coach Darin Erstad as well.

2. Andrus Peat, Offensive Tackle, Corona Del Sol High School, Tempe, Arizona:  Peat is the most highly touted player left on Nebraska’s list.  He is considered one of the best offensive linemen in the country. Peat has been invited to play in the Under Armour All-American Game. There is no word on if he will make his announcement at that game or not. Peat is the brother of Todd Peat Jr. who is currently in a redshirt at Nebraska. Todd played in the Under Armour All-American Game as well.

3. Jordan Diggs, Corner/Safety, Island Coast High School, Cape Coral, Florida: Diggs is considered by many to be the longest shot of all the big Nebraska targets. He is down to four schools, Nebraska, Michigan State, South Carolina, and Vanderbilt. As recently as last week he was rumored to have been down to two schools, South Carolina, and Vanderbilt. Diggs has denied that in several interviews since those rumors started. He has said he is still very interested in both the Huskers and Spartans. Diggs has been invited to play in the U.S. Army All-American bowl. He is set to announce his decision at the game.

4.  Alonzo Moore, Wide Receiver, Winnfield High School, Winnfield, Louisiana: Moore continues to be the most sought after target on Nebraska’s list. Moore is 6-foot-2, 170 lbs, and could be the diamond in the rough for this class. He was a do it all kind of player in high school. He played quarterback, running back, wide receiver  and returned kicks. Moore is down to two schools, Nebraska and Mississippi State. There is no word on when he will announce his college choice.

5. Avery Moss, Defensive End, Corona Del Sol High School, Tempe Arizona: Moss is the teammate, and cousin of Andrus Peat. If Nebraska gets one of those two they will more than likely get the other. Moss is rated a three star player by most recruiting sites. He visited Nebraska, with Peat on Nov. 25 when the Huskers took on Iowa. Moss is down to two teams,  Nebraska, and Purdue. He is set to make his decision at the All-American Bowl on Jan 3.

6.  Vincent Valentine, Defensive Tackle, Edwardsville High School, Edwardsville, Illinois: With his recruiting coach being the new defensive coordinator in John Papuchis, and Valentine seeing Papuchis get the promotion from defensive line coach to coordinator, I think his recruitment is all but a done deal. Valentine came to see Nebraska on Dec. 18 during their bowl preparation. He had Nebraska at the top of his list, and the visit made it that much better. Papuchis getting the coordinator job was just the icing on the cake.Valentine is still set to visit Florida and Missouri. He should make his decision on signing day, or the around the last week in January.

7. Quanzell Lambert, Linebacker, Timber Creek High School, Sicklerville, New Jersey: Lambert is considered a 4 star player by most recruiting services. Lambert will play in the first ever Semper Fidelis All-American Bowl on January 3. He is set to announce his decision at his high school on Jan 4. If he picks Nebraska he will be the fourth linebacker to join this recruiting class.

8. Brandon Beaver, Corner Back, Dominguez High School, Compton California: Beaver is set to play in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl. He is considering four schools, Nebraska, Georgia, UCLA, and Utah. The bad news for Husker fans is that Beaver is rumored to be leaning towards the Bulldogs. The 6-foot-1, 170 lb  DB from California has not set a date on when he is going to announce his decision.

9. Nate Iese, Defensive End/ Tight End, Sheldon High School, Elk Grove, California:  Iese’s fellow Californian, and friend Marcus Rios recently committed to UCLA. The 6-foot-5, 240 lb athlete has a handful of choices as far as scholarships are concerned, but is really high on Nebraska and the Bruins. Nebraska will give Iese a look at both defensive end, and tight end when he comes to Lincoln. It will be interesting to see if Rios decision has an impact on Iese.

10. Imani Cross, Running back, North Hall High School, Gainesville, Georgia: Cross was a one time Tennessee commit, but has recently reopened his commitment. Cross has only one visit planned right now, and that’s to East Carolina. Cross rushed for 1,600 yards and 24 touchdowns this season at North Hall.
