Recruiting Stat Update: Commits & Visitors

Four star quarterback Anthony Alford will be in Lincoln this week. Alford has passed and rushed for 1,200 yards each this season.

With eight commitments already and six visitors for Saturday’s game vs. Northwestern, the next few weeks will be pivotal for nationwide recruiting. Saturday will be the last home game for Nebraska until Iowa comes to Lincoln on Nov. 25. Here’s an update on the Huskers’ committed players, as well as a look at the season stats for this week’s visitors.

 

Players Committed to Nebraska

Zaire Anderson – LB – 6-1, 220 lbs – Riverside (Calif.) Community College
Last Game:
15 total tackles (6 solos, 2.5 for loss), 1 pass break-up and 0.5 sacks.
Season Stats: 68 total tackles (25 solos, 11 for loss, 3 sacks), 1 QB hurry and 2 pass breakups.

Tommy Armstrong – QB – 6-2, 210 lbs – Cibolo (Texas) Steele
Last Game: Passing: 5-11 for 54 yards and 2 touchdowns; Rushing: 5 carries for 57 yards.
Season Stats: Passing: 59-99, 1055 yards, 18 touchdowns, no interceptions; Rushing: 82 carries for 757 yards and 7 touchdowns.

Sam Cotton – TE – 6-4, 240 lbs – Lincoln (Neb.) Southeast
Last Game: Defense: 6 tackles and 0.5 sack; Offense: 1 reception for 14 yards and 1 touchdown
Season Stats: Defense: 31 total tackles, 4.5 sacks, 1 blocked PAT; Offense: 20 receptions for 225 yards, 4 touchdowns.

Deion Jones – LB – 6-2, 200 lbs – New Orleans (La.) Jesuit
Last Game: Nine total tackles (5 solos); 1 reception for 25 yards.
Season Stats: 92 total tackles (45 solos), 5 forced fumbles, 2 recoveries, 7 sacks, 3 interceptions, 1 TD.

Greg McMullen – DE – 6-5, 255 lbs – Akron (Ohio) Hoban
Last Game: 8 total tackles (3 solos, 1 sack, 1 for loss).
Final Season Stats: Defense: 78 total tackles (35 solos, 10 sacks, 13.5 for loss); Offense: 1 reception for 20 yards, 1 touchdown.

Michael Rose – LB – 6-0, 230 lbs – Kansas City (Mo.) Rockhurst
Last Game: 5 total tackles, 1 fumble recovery (played only 1 quarter).
Season Stats: 80 total tackles, 3 sacks, 1 interception, 1 forced fumble, 2 fumble recoveries and 4 pass breakups.

Paul Thurston – OL – 6-5, 274 lbs – Arvada (Colo.) West
Last Game: Five pancake blocks and 8 knockdowns.
Season Stats: Twenty-nine pancake blocks and 41 knockdowns.

Jordan Westerkamp – WR – 6-2, 195 lbs – Lombard (Ill.) Montini
Last Game: Seven receptions for 127 yards and 1 touchdown; 55-yard punt return for a touchdown.
Season Stats: Offense: 58 receptions, 1005 yards receiving and 17 touchdowns. Two rushes for 18 yards, 1 touchdown. Defense: Five total tackles and 1 pass breakup; 9 kick/punt returns for 352 yards.
